“Russia and China are implementing 79 large-scale projects.”

According to a Sept. 19 Reuters report, China has continued to upgrade its cross-border connectivity with Russia, deepening trade and investment cooperation between the two sides.

Russian Minister of Economic Development Maxim Leshetnikov held “in-depth” discussions on economic cooperation with Chinese Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao in Beijing on 19 November.

According to a statement from China’s Ministry of Commerce, Wang Wentao said during the discussion that under the strategic leadership of the two heads of state, China-Russia economic and trade cooperation has been going deeper and deeper, with bilateral trade continuing to grow and investment areas being broadened.

Separately, TASS reported on Sept. 19 that Reshetnikov told reporters in Beijing that Russia and China are jointly implementing79large-scale projects with a total investment of about $170billion. “The implementation of these large-scale cooperation projects will promote further growth in bilateral trade,” he said.

He said that Russia and China have the potential to develop trade and economic relations and are expanding the chain of cooperation.

Reshetnikov noted that the Russian and Chinese business communities are interested in cooperation. The density of exchanges reflects the common interests of the two sides: the organization of large-scale joint forums and business dialogues, exchange of visits between entrepreneurs of the two countries, etc. On the 19th, Leshetnikov led a Russian delegation on a working visit to Beijing. On the same day, the 26th meeting of the Sub-committee on Economic and Trade Cooperation of the Russian-Chinese Prime Ministers’ Regular Meeting Committee was held in Beijing.
