Go Jiangbei “China Market Exploration Webinar
Series Saw Successful Ending

Guided by Nanjing Jiangbei New Area Science & Technology Bureau (NJNA S&T) and jointly hosted by
Nanjing Jiangbei New Area London Innovation Center, China Britain Business Council (CBBC), and
GlobaltechIP, the 5-week “Go Jiangbei” China Market Exploration Webinar Series saw a successful conclusion on March 10th. The series of webinars provided overseas high-tech enterprises interested in the Chinese market with a comprehensive understanding of China’s entrepreneurial environment and market opportunities, along with the business environment and policies in Nanjing Jiangbei New Area. The event also guided them to develop business plans and then accelerate their landing and positive growth in the local market. Next step is accelerating its future implementation and development in Nanjing Jiangbei New Area through the follow-up series of events of “Go Jiangbei”.

The webinars were held every Thursday evening (Beijing Time), from February 10th to March 10th, inviting experts from different fields to give guidance on topics such as Chinese market analysis, Market opportunities and risks, Landing preparation, Initial operation guidance, Business plan and Common pitfalls. Among them,Mr. Mark Hedley, CBBC’s London Regional Director, Mr. Paul Burrows, former Vice President at Jiangsu Industrial Technology Research Institute (JITRI) and other international technology transfer experts who are familiar with the Chinese market all gave special lectures.

Mr. Mark Hedley explained China’s regional opportunities, urban agglomerations, technology ecosystems and regional strategies. He highlighted that China, as the UK’s third largest trading partner and sixth largest export market, is a great potential target market that cannot be ignored, while due to its scale and complexity, exhaustive market research beforehand is the key to success. While Mr. Paul Burrows stressed the importance of innovative and problem-solving capability, and shared the concept that a sound innovation ecosystem will effectively reduce the risks of newcomers, especially foreign start-ups.
Mr. Peter Tensen, Director of Nanjing Jiangbei New Area London Innovation Center, and Ms. Kristina Rayko, UK Director of GlobaltechIP,also gave in-depth analysis of the differences between Chinese and foreign markets, as well as China’s unique entrepreneurial models and development mindsets, which leads to down-to-earth advises on how to develop a business plan and avoid common pitfalls.

The webinar series is the first stage of the “Go Jiangbei” program. Since the kick-off session on February
3rd, it has attracted around 100 companies and institutions from the European and other overseas countries to participate, including UCL, ABP, ChiltonComputing, BD Lab, Kazdream, etc.

The Go Jiangbei programme is a unique program tailored by Nanjing Jiangbei New Area London Innovation Center, GlobaltechIP and strategically supported by Nanjing Jiangbei New Area (NJNA). It consists of 3 stages, webinar sessions, two-way matchmakings, and residential programmes, supporting the overseas projects with a series of coaching, matchmaking and market activities to comprehensively assess the projects’ feasibility in the Chinese market and then help qualified candidates to formulate development strategies and business models, explore and create market opportunities, develop strong partnerships, and finally achieve smooth growth in China.
