Nanjing has 101 international friendship and cooperation cities
On July 5, at the opening ceremony of 2022 Nanjing International Sisterhood and Friendship Cooperation City Week, Nanjing signed an online agreement with Khentii Province of Mongolia and Birmingham of the United Kingdom to become sister cities.
The city has also signed letters of intent and memoranda of understanding with Lahore, Pakistan and Victoria, Seychelles to establish sister city relations.
In 1978, Nanjing tied up with Nagoya, Japan as a friendship city, which is the first time in the coastal provinces. Nanjing actively promotes international cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, science and technology, and culture.
Currently, Nanjing has 25 friendship cities and 76 friendship and cooperation cities in the world. Nanjing is fully committed to building an international city, with 101 cities in 54 countries forming a global network.
In response to the impact of the Newcastle pneumonia epidemic, Nanjing, the capital of Jiangsu Province, has launched a virtual platform “Nanjing Connect” to continue its global outreach. The platform has four main functions: promotion, investment, experience sharing and policy consultation.
During the International Friendship and Friendly Cooperation City Week, Nanjing will hold 35 events to serve national diplomacy and promote economic and social development.
