Jiangsu has more than 90,000 intellectual property professionals

Data from Jiangsu’s intellectual property work conference shows that more than 90,000 people are employed in Jiangsu’s booming intellectual property industry.

Jiangsu Province has led the country in building the academy through a ministry-province cooperation mechanism, said Zhi Suping, director of the Jiangsu Intellectual Property Office. The program implies systematic training of IP engineers, managers and patent agents.

At present, Jiangsu has formed an intellectual property development talent training system consisting of universities, training bases, scientific research institutions and distance learning platforms.

Data show that by the end of last year, 6,232 people in Jiangsu had obtained patent agent qualification certificates. The province’s colleges and universities have 223 full-time teachers specializing in intellectual property, and have trained 2,283 undergraduates and 658 master’s and doctoral students in intellectual property.

There are 15 national intellectual property leaders and 23 people selected for the national intellectual property expert pool.

The province plans to create a pilot area for the training of first-class IP professionals through the development of academic institutions, training bases and think tanks. It aims to create a strong talent team for the IP industry and optimize the career development environment for professionals.
